In October 2009 my mare Africa was diagnosed with laminitis. I was really concerned about her diet and I posted on the ‘Eques’ forum, asking for practical advice.  Gary Hartigan emailed me immediately not only offering his help, but offering to contact Dr. John Kohnke about Africa.     

John made up a diet especially for Africa, based on her age, breeding and condition.  John’s diet for Africa was balanced and I began his diet immediately.  John also very kindly donated every product in his range that Africa would need, including Trim, Nutricart, Cell-Provide and Cell-Salts.

After a few weeks Africa began to recover.  I started walking her on the soft grass, two or three times a day, for around 10 minutes at a time and I could tell that she was changing shape.  Today, amazingly, I am back riding her.
Africa will always require knowledgeable care, especially at ‘danger’ times for her like spring when the grass sugars peak.
I owe a very special thanks to those who stood by me during the biggest horse learning curve I have ever faced.  Without these people, I honestly believe Africa would not have recovered to the point she has, as it was their knowledge, care and compassion that enabled me to do the best for her.  Gary Hartigan, to whom I owe a debt that I can never repay.  John Kohnke, for taking a look at a picture of a very sore black mare, and deciding to devote his knowledge, time and products to help her.

This season we have used various Kohnke’s Own products and have found a balance that work’s extremely well for Yearling preparation.  Keima Park pride ourselves on using natural products that enhance the conformation and overall appearance of the yearling.
Products such as Energy-Gold, Muscle-XL, Cell-Grow, Kleen-Sheen Shampoo and Hoof-Seal are all vital products that we use during yearling preparation.

My son George and I run our business “Johnson Equestrian Services”.  We are both accredited EA NCAS coaches and train horses and riders for competition and pleasure riding.
We have exclusively used Kohnke’s Own products on all our horses with great success for over ten years now.
When EI hit Sydney all our horses were on Active-8 to boost their immunity and help them recover quickly and I believe they recovered quicker and were less affected than many other horses.
Our competition horses are all on Aussie Sport as well as Cell-Salts.  For George’s top horses that have to travel to competitions and can sometimes get fussy on their feed we find Gastro-Coat very helpful to keep their appetite.  Energy-Gold gives them that extra energy when they are competing at a high level.
When we have nervy or anxious horses we find Mag-E particularly helpful. Kleen-Sheen and Hoof-Seal are also used on all our horses.
These are our favourite Kohnke’s Own products but we have successfully used many others when particular cases require different strategies.
We really appreciate the readily available access to John Kohnke’s expert advice about our horses needs.
John has created all his products after years of experience and knowledge with Australian horses in Australian conditions and he cares about them.  We trust his knowledge and we trust his products.

My thoroughbred was a picky, wind-sucking bag of bones that resisted all attempts to gain weight.  I now have him on 2 scoops of Gastro Coat a day with his hard feed.  He looks a million dollars!  I love the fact that he loves to eat.  I will never take him off Kohnke’s Own Gastro Coat as i think it’s a fabulous product.
